Sue Johnson, executive director of the Galveston-based Nia Cultural Center, was awarded the Mayor's History Maker Award, by City of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. The Nia Cultural Center is the Juneteenth Legacy Project’s fiscal sponsor, accepting tax-deductible donations on behalf of the organization.
